William R. Almon, M.D. specializes in the evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal pain. He uses a unique combination of natural and alternative medicines to help patients manage pain without the unwanted side effects of steroids and cancer-causing x-rays that are common with many other pain treatment programs. Specializing in the use of ultrasound-guided injections to treat back, neck, and knee conditions, Dr. Almon is a member of the American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine and has performed and supervised thousands of these procedures successfully over the course of his career.Dr. Almon grew up as one of six children, learning early on the importance of hard work and service to others. He spent much of his childhood in Europe and Canada where he was exposed to different cultures and developed a taste for self-motivated learning which he believes has greatly impacted his medical career. With an undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois, Dr. Almon graduated from Loyola University‚ Stritch School of Medicine in 1981. From there, he followed his family‚ military tradition and entered active duty with the U.S. Army, being stationed in California where he completed his residency in Family Practice as well as his board certification. His Army service also included a tour in Europe and training at the Academy of Health Sciences in Fort Sam Houston, TX.

After observing the devastating effects of acute musculoskeletal pain on soldiers during his military service, Dr. Almon pioneered the first Occupational Medicine program in Augusta, GA. From there he traveled extensively, consulting and evaluating pain treatment techniques all over the country. With a deep desire to move away from traditional approaches to musculoskeletal pain, many of which included narcotic pain medications and x-ray dependent cortisone injections, he began incorporating alternative pain management techniques into his own practice in 1998.

Today Dr. Almon specializes in the evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal and neuropathic pain through the use of natural anti-inflammatory medications. He now prefers safer ultrasound-guided injections for his patients, requiring no sedation or exposure to unnecessary x-rays. For over 15 years he has also been working in tandem with chiropractors and incorporating various alternative pain management techniques quite successfully into his own practice. In addition to seeing patients, Dr. Almon is a respected lecturer and consultant to countless other medical doctors, chiropractors, and alternative medicine practitioners.
